Emilio DiIorio has spent his life at the intersection of precision and imagination.
Trained as an engineer and surgeon, he has worked in environments where the stakes of creativity are life and death. He has also built ventures as an entrepreneur and maintained a lifelong practice as an artist. Across decades and disciplines—from operating rooms and engineering problems to businesses, studios, and lived experience—Emilio has seen how ideas are formed, tested, and brought to life. That range has shaped his view of creativity not as inspiration or talent, but as a rigorous, repeatable process for solving problems, creating meaning, and moving forward.

DiIorio’s diverse life experiences have influenced an abundant studio practice over four decades. He works in marble, aluminum, stainless steel, plaster, bronze, clay, mixed media, and collage.
DiIorio’s work blends classical and contemporary art with a mixture of figurative, abstraction, and realism. For him, art is not just decorative; it is a visceral experience. Development of form and recognition of color simultaneously drive creativity. Emotion and passion, however, are often driven through colors and their relationships with one another.
